Juliet & Chris – The Laid-Back, Heatwave Wedding
19th June 2025 | Saint Mary’s Church & Tuddenham Mill Boutique Hotel
I will never forget Juliet and Chris’s wedding day, not just because it was my first ever wedding under the Weddings with Parris name, but because these two are absolute legends.
They booked me just before that infamous six-month mark, you know, the point where couples suddenly realise “oh, wow… there’s still so much to do!” They’d already sorted the big things: venue, photographer, food. They knew exactly the sort of wedding they wanted: informal, relaxed, a day that felt like them rather than following someone else’s template.
But here’s the thing, sometimes the more “chilled” the wedding, the trickier it is to plan. There’s no set schedule to follow. You’re making it all up from scratch… which is great, but you still need someone to make sure it flows.
That’s where I came in.
Getting Started
From our very first call, I could tell they trusted me to get it done. We didn’t hang around, straight into planning calls, venue visits, and walk-throughs. I joined them at Tuddenham Mill for a site meeting with the events team. We measured spaces, checked the flow, took photos, and worked out exactly how the day would look.
They made the decisions, I just made sure they had the right options.
The Most Beautiful Church (That Nobody Talks About)
The ceremony was at Saint Mary’s Church in Bury St Edmunds. Now, I’ll admit, even I’ve been guilty of overlooking it in favour of the cathedral. But wow. That aisle. Wide, long, and utterly breathtaking.
When Juliet walked in with her dad, every step felt like it carried the whole room’s attention. And the way Chris looked at her? Let’s just say I’m glad I had a clipboard to hide behind.
The Great British Heatwave Plan
If you remember June 2025, you’ll remember it was hot. On their day, it hit 31°C. Days beforehand I kicked my hot-weather plan into action: fans, cooling spray, water stations, spare shirts, the lot.
Then, on the day, came one of my biggest calls, ditching the indoor reception space and moving the party outside under Tuddenham Mill’s open tipi. Risky (what if it rained?!), but oh my goodness, it paid off. Dancing under the fairy lights with a warm summer breeze? Magic.
“We Don’t Want to Spend Ages on Photos”
These two just wanted to be with their guests. Photos were not a huge priority. But I knew they’d regret it if they didn’t have at least a few portraits, so with their photographer Holly, we whisked them away for five minutes, literally five, in the meadow.
No stiff poses, just them walking, laughing, being themselves. When we came back, Chris said, “That’s it? We’re done?” And yes, they were, and the photos are gorgeous.
The Rest of the Night…
From the moment they arrived at the reception, the energy was high and stayed there. Informal speeches, delicious barbecue, cocktails and cake, dancing until late. Nothing about the day was about being “picture perfect”, it was about everyone having a brilliant time.
And they really did.

If there’s one takeaway from Juliet and Chris’s wedding, it’s this:
Even the most laid-back days need someone steering the ship—making the calls, keeping things moving, and holding the fans when it’s 31°C.
These two gave me so much trust, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we created together.
